Then... when starting with Melissa a year ago my intention was to shed a few kilograms. I came in with a weight loss goal. Very quickly I realized my mind body and soul were completely misaligned and the journey with food as a healer and Melissa as my guide began. Before the program I felt sluggish, depressed and demotivated about my reality and my life. It’s incredibly hard to put these last 6 months into words. It so full of amazing. It’s so personal, so unique, so revolutionary, so life changing.
I have found parts of me that I never knew I was capable to hold - a love for myself founded on gratitude, for my body and my journey.
I initially started this journey for weight loss. Afraid to admit it, I went along striving for a healthier lifestyle.
I was in a vicious cycle of wanting to eat better to loose weight, shame when I didn’t achieve, and guilt that I couldn’t give my body what it deserved.
On this journey I learned about what I needed to be eating and why. Weight loss lost its order of importance and became this added benefit of self love, mindfulness, and better choices.
My family; husband and kids, has benefited as much as I have. My husband will tell about being skinny and fit but with high cholesterol, taking meds only to bring little change. To a journey with Melissa through me that has put his levels at normal for the first time in years!

Existing depression, severe body shaming, overweight, the sudden death of my Mom and getting divorced in one year, took the wind out of my sails. I knew I needed help.
When Mel first told me this was an initial 6 month journey, I had a mild panic attack but kept smiling. I thought “I have commitment issues and besides, I want to be skinny by next Tuesday!!”
Well I’m proud to say, here I am, 8 months later-stronger, healthier, and happier than I’ve been in over 10 years. She continues to teach me that I have love for myself, compassion with my thoughts and that it’s all about “progress over perfection”. I have learnt how to make better choices, nutrition wise, spiritually, exercising and nurturing of self, and because of those important life lessons, I have also achieved an 11kg weight loss.

“6 months later and I am in the happiest place I have ever been, emotionally, physically and mentally!
I remember my first appointment with Melissa, though I had an idea about ‘healthy eating’’ I was still very anxious about food and didn’t trust or love myself enough around it.
I wrote down goals which I felt I would never accomplish but to my surprise 6 months later I accomplished them! I could not believe it!
Melissa helped me each step of the way, she helped me to focus on more than what was going into my mouth.
Before Mel I would cook the basic meat and veggies but now I love cooking a variety of meals, I love eating food and I am losing weight and feeling healthier day by day! A real bonus is this love has rubbed off on my family who have seen the benefits and are making the same changes.

I was in self-sabotage mode for years, which became progressively worse in the last two years with food being my “comfort and go to”, eating my emotions all the way. The sad thing is that I was ok with that, defending myself and excusing my ways as in my mind some diet would “fix” me soon. The truth is, it never did. Exercising was not on my radar and neither was my health! I was resisting support and this took me into a dark space in my mental health and physical health. In January this year I decided to turn to Melissa seeking an instant fix. Soon I realised that my weight was only part of my healing journey and that this was going to take some time, commitment, determination, honesty and showing up for myself. I believed I could and I did. It has been a wonder full healing journey, and a food revelation! Through the brilliant ongoing support of Melissa, I have changed my relationship with food; I have changed my shopping list and my pantry looks different now. I choose to be healthy (not only thin with a quick fix diet that does not work anyway) I exercise daily and love it, yes that’s right, love it and look forward to it!
